I’ve been using UV curing resin for my last 4 or 5 boards. I’d like to do an opaque tint, however my short romance with MEK didn’t leave me with the approptiate skills to wrestle with time limitations of a MEK catalysed lam. Would it be possible to apply one coat of tinted resin, catalysed with MEK, directly to the foam (as a separate cure) before any glass is applied ? I’m not worried about the extra weight, but I’m curious as to the effect on the integrity on the foam-resin-glass bond. Also, how would the final product look ? Thanks for any input. Craig

Try some of the batch on a scrap of foam with cloth with the UV catalyst. You will get a nearly instantanious cure, no drainage and an excellent layup. The Japanese have been using an uncatalized method for nearly 30 years. They finish the piece and the bombard with IF frequency radio waves. This cures it almost instantly. It is great for difficult layups. This is not a surfboard application.>>> Craig http://www.JimtheGenius@aol.com
