We had a Blessing ceremony and presented Cruzy with his new board.

Yorky,
PRICELESS FOR SURE!!! Very nice job on it as well. I have built some small boards and they are hard to get right. Again way to go!

very cool - I love the glassing schedule (triple 6 top & bottom!)
Great stoke picture of your son too!
Happy birthday Cruz .
3x6oz deck&bottom???
of course!
he’s going to tow-in at waimea bathroom ripples
make sure to put a yellow rubber duck in the bathroom
nice work Yorky , your a good dad!
Im logging this in the back of my head for when I have a kid, and will be making sure that afoaf sees this so he can start ahead on a compsand for his kids first. That is awesome! Your kid looks ready to go charge the triple OH shorepound!
Yorky,
The thing that really stands out, to me, is the combination of visual impression, and true proportion. It looks like a full size surfboard! You have created something very special for your son.
NICE Yorky!
i’m inspired.
my daughter will be there in 6 short months.
i love the pic with him carrying it under his arm.
That’s one happy boy!
bro, thats so rad… almost makes me wish for one of those children things. congrats on your sons first b-day.

Awesome board. Did you take the time to foil the mini fins? lol
I made dozens of mini skimboards to perfect a method for a line of “pop out” boards. Most of them I cut up to make sure that my method was not giving me any air bubbles. I used scraps of foam and glass to make em. Your when I saw your surfboard I had to post a pic of one of my mini skimboards. I put a TV remote and a hand to give some perspective of the size.
That is really cool and a lot harder to do than most people realize. You nailed it.
Cruz does look like he’s ready to charge in that one shot.
<span style="font-weight:bold">yorky not to hijack your thread
but there should be a lot more attention given to this method
budding young shapers will learn a lot
a good scale for shortboards is 1/2
longboards 1/3
keep up the good work

Hey Yorky,
Thats so cute you should be ashamed !!!
But its good to know the future local standing at Lennox point is in good hands.

Cheers for all your comments.
I really enjoyed making Cruz’s 1st board. However i was surprised at just how hard it was to shape correctly.
How I did it was tape the centre of the board to ONE of my shaping stand’s & shaped the nose & tail, then taped the nose and tail to the stand to blend the centre. I did this with the bottom first then flipped & did the same on top.
I scaled it off my standard shortboard!
Everything, 12" up and down from nose and tail, nose tail and wide point width, thickness, tail pod, hip, fin placement, fin toe, where divided by 70" (my short board) then multiplied by 30" (Cruzy’s board) to get dimensions for “Tiny Board”!
I put a set of the fins i use in the photo copy machine and copied them to %38 (which is close to %42.8, the actual scale). I then put the new size template on the tip of a set of used Mick Fanning shape SOAR fins and reshaped them. Easy! Not much re-foiling involved.
