Thanks for the photo

A finely honed hand planer will do that to the skin of a blank. You may get a 10’ long shaving, no problem.
(Finely honed means you can shave your forearm’s hair with the blade and not even feel it gliding along, one of the first carpentry lesson I ever learned…)
I can send you some razors if you guys can’t get them there , bill ?
[that WOULD explain your beard , I guess]

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah, Ben…
Remember, BIC is a French brand.
I stopped shaving the day they started making surfboards… (Kidding)
…this just in [thanks , Keiran] …
…maybe if your shaper has a few different tails on his blanks , a similar shot in “the bay” ??
different sprayed blanks would look good alongside each other …and pigments …and swirls …and tints …
Cheers balsa and nice pic there chipper, i really like the idea but i dont think thats what the markers are looking for.
It gets sent down to wellington to be marked :S
Anyway so far i have been planning and drawing out ideas and so forth for the boards(photoboards not surfboards) and
ahve came up with a pretty cool setup. So far it starts off showing all the tools and stuff close up with foam covered. Moves
through a couple of the difrerent tools and stuff, shows the shaper siloetted holding planner (i know is cliche but what ya gonna do,
it looks good). Pics of the board template being made (hopefully) pics of shaper planing board with foam dust spitting out of planner (slow shutter speed). Maybe shaper looking down rail of board with shallow depth of field. More shaping. Then pics of the glassing materials and tools layed out etc. Pics of glassing being done. And then hot voat etc. Then moves onto pics of post creation of surfboard. Surfers comes out of the forest holding board, wettie half on. Sits on rock looknig out to sea and starts to wax. I will try to fit in some repetition of the wax ing motion and glasing motion etc etc (the markers love that kinda crap). Might throw in a pic of the board being ridden if i can.
What you think ??
I realllllllllllyyyy hope this terns out really well, its a good idea which i rekon could land me an excellence if i do it properly
“…Surfer comes out of the forest holding board, wettie half on…”
that one , if done in colour [?] might be a very late afternoon shot , with [?as scor suggested earlier ?], a fisheye , slow shutter speed , and flash “ghost-trails”-type shot.
Or , on a tripod , a multiple exposure shot…three to five or so images of the surfer with the board in various positions [eg: above head, side on , front on , across body , at feet , etc]
That might work better with a black wetty , fully on …or… a bright [light , if shooting b and w film ] wettie , against the dark background … maybe you could borrow Roy for the day , perhaps ??]
