To any one who is interested

Thanks Barry!

I do owe Bill a tremendous amount for all he has shared with me. It’s been a pretty mind blowing experience.

The more I learn - the more I understand I got a long way to go haha.

Hope to have it finished up over the next few days.

Panels look like they came out great! Deep color, did you have to add cobalt or another accelerator to get them to kick? Impressive work all around, I love the wood.

Im sure there are better ways to skin the cat but this is how I did them.

Lots of pigment - and lots of hardener. They kick in about 7-10 mins.

Plan that things will go wrong and you’ll sand threw. If all goes well, icing on the cake haha.

Ps. The rib at the tape line always eludes my ability to make it go away. Anyone out there in cyber space got any tips I’d love to hear them. Pm if you want.

All finished up.

Good thing this ain’t going on a wall - black is a nightmare to polish - show EVERYTHING. As seen in the pics - it picks up every speck of dust and dirt aswell, to which I have no lack of in my yard.

I learned a ton on this build. Next one will be a much smoother operation (hopefully)

Amazing work!  Very impressive

Dave - I can only say the same back to you. - fin looks great.

Are you in the water with it yet ?     If so, how’s the ride ?

I just got it out this morning and what a delight.

It’s final weight was about 25lbs and it’s such a smooth ride.

It was a bit choppy, not the greatest. Maybe waist/chest high. Can’t weight to get it in some cleaner conditions.

Even though the wp is back a bit, I think it will still be a great performer up to head high.

I’ll get another update after I get a few more sessions on it.

Your board is not as ‘‘piggy’’ as boards (true pigs) we were riding successfully, in macking WindanSea, in the late '50’s.     Macking WindanSea means 12 foot to 15 foot waves.       Your board will handle most California waves quite comfortably.    Don’t be afraid to push what you think the envelope is.

love that, wideawake.

all the best

I thought I posted on this thread.  I’m not a fan of black surfboards, but your board came out really nice. Mike

Bill - I will surely try to get it into some bigger surf.

Greg and Rooster - thanks.

Also Rooster - I think black boards fall into the love em or hate me category.
