to 'riddim' and 'silly'

hi guys !

just wondering if you have any feedback on how the hempy quad trailer fins went yet ?

cheers

ben

Chip, first let me apologize for not messaging a thanks to you for the fins.

I remember the day they arrived, I wasn’t sure if you were willing to ship them to the US but sure enough, they got here.

I have been riding them as trailers on a 5’10" firewire quadflex.

The fins I have had in front of them are the FG-5’s, PC-5’s and SF-4’s.

First thing I noticed was the looks. The hemp has a pretty unique look. Then, I noticed the stiffness.

These fins are pretty stiff.

Then I took a look at the foil. Just to see how my own feeble attempts would compare.

You did a good job Chip. Impressive.

I like the cut away idea in your template.

I think the reduced base area of the fin is complemented by the stiffness throughout the fin.

I tried the hempy’s with the SF-4’s first because that’s what was on the board at the time.

Can’t say it was a really noticeable shift. The board still rode well and turned.

Then I thought about what that meant. Chip made some fins and they rode as well as a set designed by stretch.

That’s a big deal.

Then I rode them with the FG-5’s. Everything went well but I was sure something could be better. I rode them with the PC-5’s. Thats when they turned on. The PC-5 is a stiffer fin and matched the hempys well. I change my mind constantly about fins but right now I’m digging the stiffness.

In a quad it seems ideal. Not as many half turns. I can push those suckers very hard all the way through a turn.

Overall Chip they ride very well. I took some sandpaper to them and thinned the tip ever so slightly.

Thanks.

Chris

as far as i know they are in melbourne

after a 2 month trip to indo
