that was a close call. i had insecticide in my eyes when i worked in the vineyards once. couldn't get the drum open and was getting really hot trying. i gradually removed more and more safety equipment as i sweated in the sun trying to get the seal off the thing. eventually, after i had removed the mask that kept fogging up on me, the thing gave way and chlorpyrifos went straight into both my eyes.
i stood under the emergency shower for a while looking straight into it. thank God i can still see fine! that was about 1997.
i heard about a guy here in Newcastle that had a heavy night and squirted catalyst into his eye from a small bottle thinking it was that red-eye stuff. don't know what happened there...
Because, as i was running like a chicken with my head cut off...blurry vision, screaming....running into shit, etc. I thought i caught a glimps of a (BFA) Brown Furry Animal, jiggling away from the shop. The kind of movement only a 900lb seal could make....kind of a slither, blop....slither, blop. Then I smelled the tell tale sign of Anchovy ass. Couldn't be sure, too much stinging & water vision?
that has happen to me too..i when as far as useing clean acetone out of the drum to wash my eye then wash my eye with water for about 20 mins...the acetone burn but worked..* note i didn't put the acetone in my eye just around the edges....my eye wasn't right for about 2-3 days
Anyone have experience with shaping/sanding in full face respirators. I saw a Triton one here in Aus for sale off Greysonline.com.au for $200. It has the filters sitting in a ‘bum bag’ on your back with a rechargable battery which pumps air inside the face sheild. Looks pretty sick if your serious about health…maybe the shield would be annoyaing to see through?..the 3M ones are pretty pricey but if your dieing of respiritory desease one day you might think back and wish you weren’t such a tight ass…
I don't about the acetone in the eye trick? I think that might be as bad as catalyst...?
I was on the phone to Poision Control while I was flushing my eye. Doctor said, "flush eye for 15 mins with water, then cold compress on and off for 1 hr" If it doesn't get any better after that, go to the emergency room."
It boils down to how fast you can get to water to flush it out. Seconds count.........I had a garden hose 5 feet away, I was flushing in about 3 seconds.
My eye is fine, but that seal will pay this Friday when I crank up the Seal Slayer 2000. I have a new wrist rocket & pachinko balls with his name on it.

Hey Resinhead, are you sure it was catalyst you squirted in your eye, and not something with its origins a little closer to Berkeley? All the telltale signs are there–confusion, hallucination, paranoia. Next time just try throwing on some Allman Brothers live at Fillmore East (vinyl) and letting it ride.
