Hi all.
It’s been a while but it’s time for me to start thinking about my next project. A few years ago I built a Simmons inspired winged HWS twin with a trailer. It was 5.6 x 23. (10 inch tail block, 19.5 a foot up, 19.5 a foot from nose). It’s a lovely board to ride but doesnt jam off the top too easily! I intend to mess about with the template and pull it in to about 20 inches using the Vader parallel outline. My first question is regarding the concave these boards have. I’ve not seen one in the flesh but it’s my understanding that they have concave running right through the board. Can anyone shed light on the best way to do this? It looks like his are parallel to the stringer but I would have thought that would make the board tend to track? I considered running the edge of the concave parallel with the rail but wonder what would cause suction under the front foot. I’m going to incorporate nose concave like the Vader but with a more rounded nose. Any thoughts on this? Perhaps nose concave into a brief flat bottom into 10mm concave running from the centre point back. I’d love to hear from someone who has actually got one and can explain the bottom contours to me?
