i have an old beater that i’ve patched and cleaned up. there are a boatload of dings/patches, so i’m just adding a new layer of 4oz and hotcoat over the entire board. i don’t care about weight, just want it water tight and it’s a good excuse to try to laminate more than just a patch or area (which is all i’ve done so far).
any recommendations about whether i do top or bottom lam first? what about hot coat?
…it s always better to do first the part that will have less glass, then the other.
Sand that old board a lot to get rid of the finish coat and the hot coat then do the lamination; will be better this way than sand a bit and do the job.
thanks for the response. the board is sanded down really well (lightly into the original weave in some spots). i’ve filled the cracks and holes and now i’m need to lam it. that’s why i need to know which side to lam first.
maybe it doesn’t even matter, but figured i’d ask the pros.
