Bud, your shapes just keep getting better and better man! I’ve noticed you’ve been sticking to the same basic outline, so I’m guessing you’re playing around with concaves and such? Smart idea! One I’m going to have to steal. No big deal since I already stole your idea for glassing racks. They work like a dream!

no more sprays?

or is that the reserve of you grom boards?

liking your concaves too

t

Hi Rachel, thanks! I’ve found this round pin outline works so good for me, so I’m working toward trying to shape better rails, overall flow & foil. Still have a long way to go but this is my first using a new template I made from an APS3000 printout and I’m really stoked on the outline. Thanks to you people who put out this software! Plus I wanted to stay close to what I’ve been riding to get a better idea of how Dave’s SURFTRUX fin system changes things-

Hi t, my first spray was fun, but mostly an experiment on a board I had to salvage. At this point much more interested in getting better at shaping/glassing/sanding boards for myself

Great work Bud!

Now get out there and surf the thing, and let us know all about it. It looks like you routed the holes for the trux slightly oversize and filled the gap with q-cell/resin a la fcs? Was that intentional, or an afterthought? The reason I ask is that I thought that the hole was supposed to be tight like with a 10.5" center fin box, and that’s how I did mine. But hey, I could have been way off base. I keep telling myself that I’m going to lock the side fins in place and surf the board to see how it goes as a straight thruster. With how much fun I’ve been having, I keep putting it off untill next time…

pat

Yeah pat, I keep telling myself that too! Don’t see it happening anytime soon though.

Great stuff, Bud! I’m really digging that outline too. You meant to post full dimensions, right? Can’t wait to hear your impressions of the surftrux. Figure my beta-set should be worth a small fortune once they take off and become the industry standard. Looks like you got the next-gen setup. Definitely find the outline of the finbox to be more pleasing to the eye than the older square shape… I’m already planning my next board to be built around them.

Now go ride it and give up with the ride report!

Bud has the next gen prototype, the manufacturing is still out another 3 weeks estimated…rounding the front end of the box was Mayhem’s idea believe it or not…but in Bud’s the end-stops are clean and not munged and the bumpers are easy to insert taking care of two of the little things. Also the screws are slightly different so the coverplate won’t do what it did to yours Shwuz (btw expect the replacement in 2-3 more business days, they are already en route).

Sweet, thanks Dave. I’m out of here on tuesday morn, so probably won’t get those plates before I roll out, but I’m not really worried about catastrophic failure… I hope.

BTW~ Who did the surftrux logo? Is that your creation, Bud, or does the lam come with the trux now?

Hey thanks for the kudos on the board. I’m anxious to get it in the water, maybe tomorrow! I should have something to share about my install… and how it works for me soon after I get a few waves on it.

#7 looks GREAT!

very inspirational as usual Bud.

keep 'em coming.

i’m looking forward to reading another review on those surf trux also.
