Transformation of a windsurf into a surfboard

Hallo,

here is my new (not-so-serious-but-please-don’t-laugh-very-much) project.

Some years ago i found this old EPS surfboard with that horrible mid-90’s graphics.

It was broken, so I took it home thinking to transform it into a surfboard.

You can see it and read the measurements in the pictures.

Last night I cut off two slices, according with some (ill, I guess) shape I had in mind.

Actually I had not a particular project or shape in mind, I just didn’t want to unglass it, re-shape it

and then re-glass it, just because it is made of EPS and the existing glass is very hard to cut.

I tried to strip it off, but large pieces of foam came out along with the glass.

It is not meant to be a serious surfboard, I just want to have a try.

The project is:

  1. cut the board into a new outline

  2. peel off a part of the deck or the bottom glass (that depends)

  3. shape the rails of the peeled partt

  4. re-glass it and place fins.

My questions (please help!) are:

a) what kind of shape can I make? the board is pretty thick, especially at the tail, and I didn’t want

to destroy the nose.

b) should I make a thinner tail?

c) what kind of tail is appropriate?

d) What about the rocker? I was thinking about not modifying the bottom rocker, but since I have

to peel off some glass, I could peel the bottom side and modify the rocker. My thought is to

peel the deck and make it thinner.

Consider that I’m a beginner, I surf in small mediterranean waves,

Thank you in advance!

Tavlas
