making my usual exodus back to maui for the summer a little late and this time im bringing a stick with glass on fins… last summer when i brought my board out there the tail block picked up a nice smash so i would only assume the fins will eat it pretty bad this time around…
for those of you who ship/travel with boards in a board bag got any tricks for protecting the fins? so far I’ve throught of putting shoes on each side of the trailer but im not sure how to defend the twins
look around for some scrap packing EPS or left over EPS
cut in the shape of a tail block and pack around or rout out some slots for the fins to fit through and stack layers till you match the fins height.
Same thing those mattress soft foam blocks they sell do.
If you order alot of stuff from amazon or know someone who does they stuff their over sized boxes with these air pillows you can tape around your fins.
In the past I just got some cheap plastic kids footballs from a toy shop and taped them to the sides of the fin or if it's for a thruster get a big chunk of soft sponge/foam & cut fin slots into it & place over the top. It should stay in place inside the board bag.
