I have a large 1.5# EPS blank that suffered some issues during stringer glue-up on the concrete slab outside my garage. A mad scramble with 2x4’s, clamps, and weights got the rocker from too relaxed to pretty close, but there are still some issues.
At the tip and tail, everything came together: foam, stringer, foam with the stringer just a hair proud.
In the middle: stringer and foam on one side match but are about 1/4" high of the other side. Top looks just like the bottom.
I went after the top by first sanding out the hotwire marks on the ‘low’ side. Then I knocked the stringer down to about 1/8" proud. Then I started at the outside and worked my way in through the foam until the stringer was the only thing proud and took shallow cuts down the stringer until things were close. Then I took a long block with 20 grit and took out the majority of planer marks on the former high side and then across both sides to make them even.
Does this sound about right? Is there a better way to ‘address’ this blank ? I’d like to after the bottom, even better if I learn something in the process.
Thanks, J
