I just saw the movie, riding waves…good flick, the young kid cyrus sutton has a good eye…well, the joel chapter in that flix is amazing…what is he riding? it looks like a classic shape? I wanted to shape somthing simular…9’9 w blank? i know it wont make me surf like him but ,his stick looks fun…any numbers for widths? it has 50/50s on it…what the deep conture in the bottom making him float on the nose? this will be #11…surf in the morning and heading to fiberglass supply…
he’s riding a 9’4" Joel Tudor Noserider… called “NR04” (Noserider '04) on his website… http://www.joeltudor.com
no way…that looks nothing like the board in riding waves…it didnt have that much…what is it… VEE in the tail? less gunny? thanks for the imput …are you sure?
at the end of the movie, it says what board everyone was riding…that’s the one for JT…and where does it ever give you a shot of the bottom contours??
Always thought that board looks like a thinly foiled Nuuhiwa Noserider II…just watched it in slo-mo, much of it looks similar to my Nuuhiwa triple stringer, it definitely has a glass-on Nuuhiwa fin, also looks more like a 9’9 than a 9’4, and that “4” in the credits is kind of strange looking…the deck lam when he’s waxing almost looks like it says David Nuuhiwa, but it also could say Joel Tudor, kind of hard to tell if there’s the deep concave in the nose, some shots it looks like it, but much of the footage has the sun glistened look, so it’s hard to get a clear shot even in slow mo…
i’ll watch it again tomorrow and see if i can pick out something more indicative.
thanks dubstar and soul…I just saw the bottom contoue when he off those rediculous cross step hop to noes it looks like big concave?can you have too big a concave? are those 50/50 rails? you guys are awesome…whats the width on the david? and dubstar do you post on the Oregon surf page with the same name+?
Hey
My Nuuhiwa Noserider II (based on the original Bing and produced in conjunction with David) has about 45 inches of deep concave…works great in clean surf, good in regular waves. Full 50/50 rails wrapping to a flat deck, foiled thinner in the nose and tail. Glass on Nuuhiwa fin. Not sure of the dimensions right now, but it is wide w/ full hips.
Bing also produces a Noserider if you prefer the source to Tudor.
Not me on the Oregon site! I’ll have to check it out
My 9’6, note that it is a triple stringer and has no tail block, shape is same as any other Tudor Nuuhiwa:
wow what a beaut…nice pics thanks, whats the tail width?these boards are pretty strait? not much turning radius Im heading to hood river…thanks again
Dubstar-
Dont know if I am too late to jump into this one but the NR04 is very similar to the Nuuhiwa. It has close to the same concave in the nose. More modern rails the tail is pulled in a little more, a little thinner. It also is available in a 2+1 set up. I have a 9’6" Nuuhiwa which I love, I just ordered a NR04, looking forward to seeing how it rides.
