Turks and Caicos

Anyone surf them.

Thinking of going over for my honeymoon in Oct.

Cheers Joe

I have never surfed it, but flown over with a good swell running. You’ll need to explore the out reefs. Also that is hurricane season. I wouldn’t go there to surf with my bride unless she surfed or knew you’d be focused elsewhere.

It has possibly the most beautiful deserted beaches anywhere.

I spent 3 summers on Providenciales for 2 week sessions, mainly for SCUBA diving. The only times I saw rideable surf were on boat trips to the far side (less populated, accessible by 4WD) of the island. The waves were on outer reefs, but still not too far from shore, near some dive sites called “the wall”, which was on the continental shelf. This was in the late 80’s, early 90’s. That area of the island may be more accessible now. I know there has been huge development since then.

Lucky my other half does surf,we fancy a low crowd surf off the beaten track but the hassels of getting a boat to the breaks every day for 3 weeks may prove to be a little to expensive. It seems that the world is getting smaller all the time when it comes to surf trips!! Any info about jamaica, I know it get’s surf but October who knows? looks pretty empty.

Cheers Joe

I lived on South Caicos for about 4 months. Where are you going to be? It’s been several years, but I’ll check a map and could probably give you some specifics if you’re interested . . send me a PM and I’ll get back to you.

For October, in the Carribean look at Barbados. Hurricanes go north of the island and they do get the surf without the threat. St. Croix has some spots on the south side as well and PR too. They are a bit more in the thick of things though. Guadaloupe also has a nice left behind the club med and some other fall spots as well. There’s still spots out there. Jamaica’s a toss up. Not real consistant.
