now i know this is a fairly difficult question to answer, but i thought i’d throw it out and get some opinions at least.
i’m looking to get a twinzer fish shaped, so i contacted my local shaper and he said he has a 6’0 shaped and glassed…ready to go if i want it. it’s 21 1/2" x 2 5/8". i’m 5’10 and around 160lbs, probably say i’m an intermediate skilled surfer. i learned on longboards and still ride a 9’4 RA saber regularly. for shorter boards i have my 6’8 standard thruster (which is a bit more ride…sort of a mini big guy tri?), and a 6’6 kane garden egg shape. is 6’0 too short for me? i’m looking for something i can ride in beachbreak and some point surf here in new england, from waist to head or so.
if anyone has any input, i’d love to hear it. grab this one that’s ready to go, or have a custom shaped?
how do you go on the 6’6 , is my first question …and , how wide and thick is it ?
i ride a 5’11 x 20 ‘fishy’ shape in up to head high and a bit beachbreak , occassionally …it’s 2 1/2" thick and i weigh around 154 [70kgs] on a good day
That is an impossibly difficult question to anwer without more inputs.
At 6’1", 220lbs I ride a 5’11" (2.75" thick, 22" wide, 17.5" nose/tail, 10" pins) twin keel fish. It is a push but I get my waves (although it worked better when I was 205lbs but thanks to a herniated disc and the resulting 4 months of no activity that is the way it goes…).
On the other hand, I would probably get about 0 waves on your 6’6".
What are the nose, tail and thickness of the twinzer? A 10.5"X18.75"X12" board at 2.25" thick will be radically different than a 17.5"X21"X17.5" at 2.75" thick board.
207, Thought you would like to see a Fish at the left, with a Quad in the middle to a Twinzer Fish Quad fin set-up at the right with 18 degree canted conard fins off the rail in the same board size Soulstice was talking about. All this can be done in one board shape using ProBoxes. Mahalo
thanks larry. i wasn’t aware of that option of pro-box until you posted. now you’re tempting me to just shape the board myself! i believe that may be the direction to take, that way i can have multiple setup options with the fins as you’ve noted, and also tailor it to my own needs. board #3 may be on the way!
