I have a choice of two boards and I was wondering how they would differ in performance. They are both very shortboardish, rounded pin hybrids.
Board #1: 6’6" 11.25 x 19.50 x 14.25 x 2.5
Board #2: 6’9" 11.75 x 19.75 x 13.75 x 2.5
The thinner nose but wider tail on the smaller board makes me wonder if it will paddle as well and handle mush as well as the longer board. How else would they differ? I’m 39yrs old, 6ft tall, 168 + wetsuit. I surf mostly beachbreak. Any ideas on which would be a better choice?
Go for the 6’6". They’re both pretty beefy and wide. The 6’6" will paddle fine even with the wetsuit and will handle a wide range of conditions.
I’m 5’10", 170lbs, 29 yrs old and ride a variety of boards including a 6’0", 19 1/8" wide, 2.5" thick Al Merrick Sashimi, a 6’3", 19" wide, 2 3/8" thick thruster, and a 6’2" thruster w/ similar dimensions. I ride these in both summer w/ trunks and in winter with a 6/5/4mm wetsuit (East Coast winters) and they all float and perform very well.
go for the 6’6" , if u can’t paddle go for cabin cruiser aka longboard !
I’m 5’9" 72kg , 32 years old . My boards size JS Industries Australia 5’10" x 18"3/4 x 2"1/4 fish tail . Local Motions Hawaii 6’2" x 18"1/2 x 2"3/16 roundtail both for indo wave …
