Does anyone remember the mid/late 60’s paper stringers, that were being done by Clark Foam? Weaker than 1/16 th wood, but stronger than glue/resin alone. Might be time to bring it back, eh?
Given that several colors were available, I suspect it may have been an art supply, called ‘‘construction paper.’’ I assume it is available in rolls. That’s my best guess. I’m sure a little research will turn up a source.
And boys, EZ here just my observations and experience
Barry’s “sauce” in my sorry ass opinion may very well add strength, flex and rebound.
Recently had Boy take an air drop and on landing put his heel through the deck a good ¾” into the foam. During repair I was amazed there were no stress fractures as would be normal at least.
Patched the bitch.
Went out to the bone pile, grabbed a glued up section and just bent it till it snapped.
It bent so far beyond what I felt was normal prior to snap, I grabbed an unglued and glued up bones, result glued up piece bent way more.
Grabbed another piece of glued up foam.
This time I bent it to the edge of breaking and released.
It piece returned to its shape. Hum…
Same piece I go again and it snapped earlier than I expected.
O.K. no miracle
Advantages?
IMO it shapes EZ’r than resin glue ups (never tried the paper deal)
And the board is good till the next wallop.
Aloha
Eh here’s a cool pic GoPro “Boy” “Christening” the new step up.
