First there isn’t much info regarding these questions in past posts so I had to ask.
Question one: Can I use sanding resin instead of gloss resin to mix my black pinline resin? I just don’t want to waste gloss resin if I don’t have to.
Question two: Can I lay down the pinlines and then do a second hotcoat over it and then put my gloss coat on? I have some areas I have to fix and the board needs a second hotcoat.
Good question. Yes but I would use gloss. When you use HC it can effect how hard the pinline comes out. When you do pinlines you put a lot of pigment in the resin. Gloss will dry harder and prep sand better every time. If your just doing a 1/8" pinline you could do it in paint and gloss over. If you have to do double 1/2 inch touching pinlines then go with gloss resin.
You wouldn’t be wasting gloss resin (a dixie cup) but you could be wasting your time using the wrong procedure.
Does it matter if I do a hotcoat over the pinline?
Another question, if I sand down my hotcoat and there are several areas where I kissed the cloth but didn’t sand through, will a gloss coat cover this or do I need another hotcoat?
