What is the typical toe in on a thruster set up for a 6’0" board?
errr…“typical” is a mighty iffy word
Some guys always use lots of toe-in for snappy turning in smaller waves.
Other’s like slightly less toe-in for faster straight down drops, and more speed along the wall.
I like my fins to point halfway to the tip of the nose stringer.
Just make sure you don’t toe them outwards.
Pointing half way means to the middle of the board? Or towards the point of the nose?
Would be rather extreme to middle of board.
To nose, would be very slow and quick turny.
Parallel to rail, would be very fast and straightline oriented.
Outwards, would be very confused and fighting the curve of the rail.
Somewhere between #'s 2 and 3, depending on the feel you are trying to achieve, the template curve and target size of the waves you plan to ride.
Typical thruster is toed to the nose on a 6 foot board.
quarter inch
Don’t you just love “surfboard design”??
3 supposed semi “experts”, three differing opinions, same subject.
Possibly surfboard design is not an exact science?
I actually ran down to the garage after Dave’s post, and ran a straightedge from the inside of the fin to…oblivion! That board is also made by an “expert”.
Too bad I didn’t pass basic Algebra, as I could never measure toe-in in feet and inches.
My favorite word in my replys…“depends” seems to apply a lot, doesn’t it?
