I took some pics while I was getting a sailboard ready to vac bag on some balsa on the bottom, just out of interest it’s a lightweight urethane blank 28kg/m3 and the balsa pattern is just for looks not performance.
These pics are sticking the balsa together and then the balsa with some wet glass just before I flip it over onto the board to go into the bag
More hi tech stuff here I use reticulation pipe attached to the fridge compressor, punch a hole in the bag with a screw driver, slide in the black retic pipe then squash on and seal with a lump of blue tac.
To seal the other end sometimes I do a knot, in this one I just twist the bag tightly then bend it on itself and wrap some tape around to hold it in place = perfect quick seal.
Thanks guys, hopefully those pictures might help simplify the process for others.
Rhino I haven’t sanded the diagonal balsa ones yet I’ve got 3 of those on the go I don’t think sanding it will be a problem. For one of the mals I thought what the heck lets see what happens and I did ALL the sanding with an orbital and 180 grit rails as well!
