Vac question for Herb, or ??

Herb, Let’s say I have a medium sized shop vac that holds 5 gallons. But I want more gallonn capacity, can I cut a hole in a big 50 gallon drum, put a lid on it, then set my vac on it and let it dump inside. The question is, does the amount a vac can hold have anyhting to due with the vac’s motor, etc? I think I heard you (HERB) did a set up like this so you wouldn’t have to dumpthe trash as much???

…This wouldn’t be Perry would it? …Check out the photo page, under “other” or “tools” (one of the two). There’s a shot of my vac set-up.Also you can archive some info on it. …If you use a barrel make sure it’s not thin and soft, like a cheapo plastic trash can. There is a -negative pressure created in the chamber of your vac can,and if the barrel is soft,it will collapse when the vac is turned on. Just get a industrial plastic trashcan like the janitors use,and cut a hole to fit the vac top into.It also might require cutting the bottom of your vac container off to do this(like mine is).You can glue it,tape it,but cut a hole that allows a tight fit around the vac lid/bucket or you’ll lose all of the pressures needed to operate it properly, again check the board page.Herb…oh and Thanks for asking.
