Veneer w/out a Vac. Help

my bad,,, it was there the whole time

ya ,, you guys need to add some barrier paper to your inventory.

I'll bet Aloha gets some good laughs from you guys.,, I sure do,,,Hahahahah (but I still love ya guys)

ok this is what you do,,,

tape the outside edge of the over drag, all the way around the deck and do a resin stain on the foam. making a false inlay. use multi colors as to help hide your F up.

so you will have the blue rail then a white foam band and then the center will be the foam stain.

and you could say you planed it that way.

or you can try to hide it and F it up more

Good suggestion Ken.

Here’s some related ideas…

I’m with you Ken! I don’t wanna try and hide something that only makes it more obvious I screwed up. To everyone who suggested ALOHA, Steve does great work but in the 30 boards I’ve done not a single one has been standard clear because the more things I try the better equipped I am to give Foam E-Z customers advice to help them avoid the same issues or so I can trouble shoot their problem and help them navigate around their screw up’s. I did use paper to prevent my current situation, however when wrapping the laps I caught the paper with the squeegee which as best I can tell allowed the resin to get between the 2…

Gdaddy I do appreciate the offer and just may take you up on that but when I have a planned veneer job LOL just see how it’s done right!

Oneula I like the sound of your idea of the plastic wrap but can you pull it off solo? I imagine you would have issues with it shifting under the tension of plastic as it’s wrapped. I do have an industrial style heat gun to ZAP it once it’s on.

McDing you couldn’t be more right about screwing up to learn a lesson, but also if I had taken my time to double check my prep work I could have avoided the whole ordeal.

I’m with you on that - I prefer doing it myself, and learning from the experience, even 'tho my boards sometimes pay a price for my education LOL.

BTW, other than the problem with the deck, awesome resin work on that bottom!

Freakin’ nice board John Mellor posted too!

Thanks Huck! Much appreciated, I have enjoyed many of your board builds as well!

I learned everything about color work on here, I believe it was Kokua’s method I first tried and still use everytime. The hard part was accepting that in order to get good a swirl you need so much extra resin to prevent “muddying” especially on the rails. Our personal boards do tend to be the test subjects don’t they!

just sand all that shit off.  Use a light touch and it will come off with no big drama.
