Vent Plug Idea

I have made a few 1lb EPSers without vents. They’re doing fine, I just don’t leave them in the sun or car. I will be venting the next so I can enjoy my post session breakfast at the local greasy spoon. The other day I had the following idea:

  1. remove the little black valve used to inflate and deflate sporting equip from an old football/soccerball/volleyball.

  2. intall this valve during my next lamination being careful to secure the valve but not obstruct its operation.

  3. When not in operation, just insert a ‘pump needle’ into the valve (sans pump of course). Those things are cheap and would be easy to keep in the car or otherwise available. No screws to mess with and loose, just stick in the needle when not in use.

Thoughts?

HD sells these thick rubber washers with a 3mm hole…integrate the washer in the lam, plug the hole while surfing with your own personalized plug…

However, I’ve had mixed results with this system (two of them have broken). What I think happened is that I cut up my own fiberglass to add to the mix. I purchased some milled glass to see if this does the trick.
