Ok, I searched for this topic and found not too few hits, but too many. I started reading these sequentially, and decided that I’d be forever. So I’ve donned my asbestos skivvies to ask: Can anyone point me to a primer on the vents that are frequently referred to in discussions of EPS construction, including sources? I have a prototype that I intend to build this winter that uses an unusual construction method (contains enclosed voids) that could benefit from such a device. Thanks in advance.
Towards the bottom of the linked page, you’ll see the vents and the plugs. The aluminum plug is what I use. There is a great thread that discusses installation (w/epoxy - something along the lines of taping off the bottom of the vent and then before the epoxy hardens, poking through the tape and epoxy to provide the breathing hole).
My method is similar - I just let the epoxy harden and use a drill to open up the hole. I shape XPS (Dow Blue), using multiple sheets glued with epoxy (lots of gaps and the retained blowing agent gases = need for holes in the stringers and vent plugs).
