Ventura County Water Quality Update

For those of you that are still tempted by todays swell, please reconsider. Raw sewage is still present in recent testing. Over the past 4 years I have contracted a variety of ailments due to polluted water in Ventura county. These include nasty, burning skin rash, double pink eye, headaches, body aches, vomitting, diarrhea, fevers, and several sinus infections from Hell!!!

The following article was taken directly from today’s Ventura County Star.

" MILLIONS of gallons of raw sewage emptied into San Antonio Creek this past week. Repairs to the main sewage line were finished by 6:45PM Tuesday, according to the Ojai Valley Sanitary District.

County health officials advised the public, however to avoid all creeks and streams in the affected areas until Friday night. (VENTURA RIVER=SURFERS POINT=CALIFORNIA STREET)…Also, ocean quality at the following beaches failed to meet state standards: Hobson County Park, Promenade Park (Surfers Point=Cstreet), San Buenaventura Bch, Marina Park Bch (The Dredge), Penninsula bch, Oxnard Beach Park…"

By the way, several surfers at C-Street this morning stated that the water tasted “funny”. Gee, I wonder why?!?!?!?!?

The bright side is that Rincon through Santa Barbara has tested clean.

Do with this info as you will.

Here’s the link for the EHD press releases:

This is the primary way EHD notices the public about sewage releases. The Jan 11 sewage advisary was not posted until Jan 19. I called Tuesday to say their beach signage was totally inadequate and the website was not current. Lots of people surfing on Monday, after the temporary pipeline ruptured again on Sunday. Did they know about the spill? I doubt it. Ojai Valley Sanitation has spills every winter, it’s inexcusable!

Thanks for the link and update. Today there were folks out at lunch time and hope they at least have had their shots.
