Looking to gain some insight into the value of two vintage singlefins I have.
7’6 John Holly/ Seagull 70’s era Singlefin pintail. Red/Orange resin tint with blue pin line. In pretty good shape for her age with only a few cosmetic blemishes.
7’0 Heritage Diamond Tail Singlefin, Super thick. 3+ inches…in great shape.
If anyone has any idea for vaule or a direction to steer me please let me know. Thanks Jon
Those look like really nice boards! I’m guessing ballpark figures: 250-350 dollars.
Another way to check is put them on E-Bay with a ridiculous reserve and see what they bring. Some people are bidding up on those early 70s single fins.
I had a Seagull with a similar template with the simple text logo (not the bird graphic.) I knew it was a seventies board, because I trusted the verbal history of the friend I bought it from. It also had one of those see-through hollow glass fins. It can be difficult to tell the difference between a John Holly Seagull board from 1975 and 1995. He was also making boards in the nineties with the old Plastic Fantastic logo. Like 1969 retro roundtails with glassed on fins. Whatever decade they come from, his boards are valuable for thier ride and durability.
do what john said.i think i would hang on to them a tad longer, as i think those type of boards may be the next collector craze phase.a friend of mine has about 40 boards from the same era,and he’s speculatin’ big time!
I believe the Heritage is from New Jersey. Dan Heritage? I think there is a shop/factory in Jersey. Thanks for all the tips…the seagull is amazing when when there is some size… I just wish New England got bigger swell more consistently so i could ride it a lot more.
Dan Heritage, founder. He’s been shaping since the late 60’s according to the history on the website. I think his family still runs the shop, can’t hurt to ask…
Mr. Heritage passed away not too long ago. Just this pass summer they had a Dan Heritage Memorial surf contest off of Atlantic City. His son and daughter run the shops now. They would be able to tell you exactly what the board is worth if they are not interested in it themselves.
