i know nothing about surf boards but on my quest to design my own stand up paddle board to fish from i came across a surf board and it caught my eye. the board is about 9 or so kinda has a yellowish tint to it from old age im pretty sure, and i bought it from a guy for only 10 bucks. on the bottem it has a hand written autograph that says 'pat o
hare’ also hand written it says ‘handmade’. can somebody tell me more about my find cause from my research im thinking i might of just struck gold but i could be wrong. any imput would be appreciated…
Can you post several pictures, showing top, bottom, fin, and any graphics / writing?
No laminate at all? Pat O’Hare was out of Cocoa Beach, Florida. He had a licensing deal with Geg Noll for a brief period in the mid 60s. He produced boards under his own name fom 1964 to 1999.
Pictures always help. Otherwise, it’s all moot.
i will post picks asap. been out of town all day working and just getting home and settled in. thanks for your replys tho.
pics coming soon.
any feedback would be appreciated
I’m no expert on East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame Legends, but sheerly from the pics, you have a dunger worth about what you paid for it.
(Hey I’d be stoked to have a beater LB to play with for 10 bucks).
…and very little future in photography, haha
The fin is probably worth 10 bucks anyway.
Well, it appears to have the standard O’Hare oval lam. Hard to tell from the photos. I’d say the board is from the 90s, given the outline and general appearance. It is certainly not vintage or collectible. It has a standard Fins Unlimited box. O’Hare was in business well before those came along. If it was a 60s O’Hare in decent shape, it might be worth a little. In this case, you have a $10 beater. Fix the dings and ride it on small crowded days. Bumping rails won’t be a concern.
