Just received some volan fin rope from fiberglass supplies, tried to wet out with epoxy and it looked like a bundle of old horse hair! baled out. The epoxy went off ok, but are they compatible, and should it go clear when wet out?

Matters on the sizing used. What brand and style? Example VEC 68L
Never used epoxy before, but Volan will be transparent, but never clear. It will have a greenish hue to it. The more dense the layers of volan the deeper the green hue.

i have had one experience with volan/epoxy combo-sounded good, looked good, but ended up bad-very bad.ruined one of my best boards ever.

I have just looked at their catalogue and it is supposed to be silane roving, looks like straw to me though! is that usual?

don’t use as much volan next time,and it will be a littie cleaner,but never as clean as reg. cloth./fin rope…ET
