…normally the WP is 2.5 back
Yeah, no doubt… pretty much all of Andreini’s boards are sick.
Larry Mabile and Doc Lausch both have wide, 80s style boards in their lineup.
I've not tried Larmo's versions, but I had a Doc 'F-80' which worked great.
not sure on that but I’ll ask.
There are a lot of really good shapers out there making just what you are looking for… the older I’ve gotten, the wider my boards have become… you should really check out boards from guys that have been using Bill Thrailkill’s templates. I’ve really been having loads of fun on mine. I know of one other guy who made a quad from bill’s Newshape template and he was riding it around carlsbad and said it was a blast… I think it’s in the archives… not sure though… can’t remember his name.
where are you located ?

Yeah, Herb! If anyone could make this guy the board he’s looking for it’s you!
I've shaped my own for a few years now and finally got a custom made a couple of months back for the winter. What a difference. I'm still shaping myself, but a guy who's shaped 1000s of boards is better than I'll ever be--except that he can't read my mind, which I sometimes can (if only it wouldn't change 10 times in the course of a single shape).
So I'd really suggest Hank Warner. He was polite, quick, and he's been making boards long enough that all this retro stuff isn't even retro to him. I love my new board. He's at Diamond Glassing in SD and they will do epoxy.

Lots of great recommendations for great shapers.
Too bad no one can replicate a Firewire 6’6" Addvance in epoxy which would do everything you’re after.
Wide point forward with a relatively narrow tail in epoxy which paddles into waves easily, handles steep drops and will still go square off the bottom and release off the top with speed to make sections.
i’m sure speed needle josh could replicate a firewire.

Hi Herb,
Or should I say “Sawasdee Kup” to keep in the right direction.
No doubt Josh knows the tech due to time well spent with his mentor but the Addvance is a new model and would be a tricky one to replicate without actually scanning the shape.
Of course its all arbitrary as Mr Ron wants a Cali shaper so Josh is on the wrong side of the Pacific and Firewire are off the rack.

Has anyone on this forum ever heard of Jim Phillips? Just curious.

He might even have a template for a nice 1976 California style semi gun rounded pin winger, wide point 3 inches above center. A big old hawk nose about 3 1/2 inches of foam under the chest.
I happen to Know that Hank Warner has Bill Casters old templates. He has the families permission to use the Caster Logo.
WP forward short board with glide ???
you should try a Hull
