watching the wheel

people say i'm crazy doing what i'm doing

well, they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin

when i say that i'm o.k.well, they look at me kind of strange

surely you're not happy now,you no longer play the game

people say i'm lazy, dreaming my life away

well, they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me

when i tell them that i'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall

don't you miss the big time boy, you're no longer on the ball

i'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round

i really love to watch them roll

no longer riding on the merry-go-round

i just had to let it go

ah,people asking questions ,lost in confusion

well,i tell them there's no problems,only solutions

well, they shake their heads and they look at me as if i've lost my mind

i tell them there's no hurry

i'm just sitting here doing time

i'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round

i really love to watch them roll

no longer riding on the merry-go-round

i just had to let it go

i just had tooooooooooo,,,,,,,,,, let it gooooo.......oooooo...ooooo   o.

john lennon.

happy holidays from the spitzer family of surfers.

Good to see you back herb!.

Very timely Herb with the relase of Lennon’s final interview which I caught a few bits of last night.

“These critics with the illusions they’ve created about artists - it’s like idol worship. They only like people when they’re on their way up. I cannot be on the way up again. What they want is dead heroes, like Sid Vicious and James Dean”

Merry Christmas Herbster!

Howzit My friend Herb,Wow what a surprise and so Glad to have you back even if it's just a cameo visit, but hopefully you re back to stay and I Know chipfish has been writing some posts and asking for your comments. Your neighbor ( forgot name) who's Dad lives here in Havasu stopped by a few weeks ago and we had a ggod talk and when I asked about your plans about th mnkhood he told me that was a few years down the road. I don't kow if I understood what you meant in your post but it almost sounds like you have changed your mind about the fuyure life change. I have a couple of new heakth issues but nothing life threatening, just low red blood cell count so I am tired and get headaches. Take care and you can PM me anytime. Aloha,Kokua

   ben

last i talked to jon c. it was being finalized(micro-editing).

these guys are giving this movie a great shot at winning some awards.

i'll let you guys know the skinny on it as soon as i get some more info.

btw.........i built a 7 finner that works killer,,,, using your fins ben!

hope to have pics soon.

got my walking papers at work last night......... i'll be joining the ranks of the unemployed.

you think after 30 yrs of service to the public, saving and mantaining lives, i'd be worth more.

no,,,,,,,,we live is a disposable world ,i'm afraid.

herb

Great news on the movie, terrible on the job mate. Hope you find another one soon mate

Damn, 30 years.

Yep, everything and everybody is disposable these days. Capitalism historically goes through these cycles, just the way it’s made and the way it works: but this is a big one, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see it end up like the 30s again, it’s still unravelling on a world scale. Puts a lot of things in perspective. A bit of a scary ride. A good time to be in the water - hey, a seven finner!

moss,

ya a seven fin job...........and it goes great !

been surfin' it around with 120% results............just outstanding results!!!!!!!!

the fins are not typical of what's used in the general surf market today.... as far as i know, original templates on all the fins.

no fin or set of fins are over 3-3/4" in height, and bases no greater than 3-1/2".

this is not so important.........what is important is how there are arranged in height.

i'll try and get some pics up,maybe someone can give me a hand, pics will explain the fin configuration better.

i 've tried riding short wide boards(under 6'-4" in height and over 22" wide),but they all tend to ride soapy and unstable....or if you use bigger/deeper fins ............stiff as hell.

this board with the 7 fins gives the rider,"the best both worlds" of stability and agility.............plus be able to catch waves like a longboard.

i haven't got air time yet but it's coming............i just need to get it in the water more.

also it's not made for sucked out shorebreak or big outter reef stuff, but it will ride very slow small stuff to medium punch waves w/o a problem.

i had a name for it,but someone here suggested i name it "spitzer" ...........i like that name, and i'll go with it,thanks.

also been takin' the daughter fishin' alot .

she loves to go to the local park and catch bullfrog and lepoard frog tadpoles, crawdads, and baby bass for the home aquarium.

as the grow up ,and/or turn into frogs, we return them to various ponds in the area, golf course ,etc.

if i can make ends meat...........to cove a few things ,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe i'll just be a home dad for awhile.

herb

beefy,

you've been very patient,my man.

i got a pile now,names on all.........yours too!

herb

flatty,

my favorite lennon quote is with elliot mintz.........it went something like this:

elliot: if you could do it all over again, what would you be ?

lennon: i think??? i think i'd rather be a fisherman !

classic line foresure.

the interview was at surfrider beach malibu 1975.

herb

mossy,

the big difference in fins, is the rear sidefins are the biggest.

but you are correct about the symmetry.

it has a great arc in turns like a single fin .....,but because of the smaller size in fins (also less area in fin) (size) it piviots like a twin.

i showed it off to kensurf yesterday,i shoulda asked him to take some pics.......duh!

i'll see if i can't get him to shoot it later today.

thanks for the lennon archives,i'll looking for them.

herb

So Herb,

With those smaller seven fins, I’m assuming that they are pretty evenly spaced in an arc (?) I’m imagining how it turns, and picturing something more uniform throughout the arc of turn, rather than a pivoty turn.

Toe-in: all proportionally angled across the arc to the same degree or balanced respectively/symmetrically (e.g. 1 and 7, 2 and 6, 3 and 5) to points spaced evenly?

It seems almost like they would act something like an aquatic version of the flowboard skateboard. http://flowboard.com/products.php?section=flowboards&item=F16

And John Lennon:  there’s a pretty good bio film, “Nowhere Boy” - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1266029/

It seemed based on the book “The Day John Met Paul”. Both worth checking out. They give you a look into his early life, character and influences. Yoko was really happy with the movie, thought that it was an honest portrayal.
