Water Decals vs Rice Paper

I haven’t done it in a while, but I sometimes use small decals over ding repairs (under the glass.) It’s less hassle than color matching. Ya, I know, I know it drives the collectors crazy. Well anyway I was surfing for decals on the internet and I noticed that they make a water slide decal paper for inkjet and laser printers. Have any of you Swaylockers tried this sort of decal paper and compared it to rice paper logos printed on an inkjet or laser printer? Here’s one of the decal paper sources: http://www.ceramic-decal.com/paypal/decals-model.html http://www.ceramic-decal.com/paypal/decals-model.html

I haven’t tried water decals but I have had good luck with rice paper. I just tape rice paper to a standard sheet of paper and run it through my inkjet printer. I haven’t tried detailed pictures, but a couple colors together work well.

There is a printer paper available for inkjet printers that works very well, although you can tape rice paper onto a sheet - this inkjet paper I’m talking about does not crease up going through the printer and doesn’t really bleed. I know it is available in the US from Surf Source, and in Europe from Seabase. I’ve used it personally and have got very good results. http://www.seabase.ltd.uk/contact.htm
