water in mekp and 249

Hi all, Appreciate any help on this one. This is my first time glassing. My resin and catalyst were sitting out side for a couple of weeks which probably wasn’t smart, but the weather has been cool so they likely suffered no heat damage. Unfortunately, they got rained on and the mekp liquid looks like there are floaties in it- kinda translucent now as opposed to water clear. I’m hoping no water got in the sealed cans of polyester resin. If so, is it still safe to glass with it? I know that the reaction between resin and catalyst is called condensation which releases water from the bonds- so theoretically water in the system shouldn’t pose a problem, other than maybe weighing out accurately. What do you guys think? Many thanks in advance

Let me put it this way; you got lots of time tied up in your shaped blank and a fair amount of $ in that and the glass cloth, no? A couple bucks to replace the catalyst is cheap insurance. If the resin itself is cloudy, another $25 or so for another gallon of the stuff is also cheap. Rather than some resin that never hardens ( which is what happens to resin that gets water in it - guess how I found out) and glass cloth, time and maybe a shaped blank you have to throw away. hope that’s of use doc…
