This beardless wonder of a lecturer guy gets an award for thinking of marketing organic wax in a bigger way than all the little guys who are doing organic wax

His brilliant creative idea being mainly that one big business is better than many little businesses

Now we are classed as ‘marginal’ even though we invented (in 1998) the organic wax formula which all the other organic waxes are based on.

So can I now claim that I have been shafted and start a Swaylocks collection box for a new 10,000 square foot wooden board factory and wax kitchen on the beachfront at the Main Beach Mount Maunganui ?

the diffrence is that another elevated the BB to exalted status on merit alone.

naturally if we hadn’t wanted to share with the roundheads we wouldn’t have published the recipe

just shared my bicycle with a cheeky polynesian fellow who nicked it while I was in the video shop, that’s the second bike this month, Captain Cook had a similar habit only he shared navigational instruments and the like

by the way the wx recipe was invented by Emma who is a remarkably intelligent woman

no reason two waxes cant compete in the market place, mr zoggs/mrs. palmers…

besides, i only know of one place you can buy your wax from in the uk (loose fit in braunton if i remember correctly?)

dont take this as an attack

usually i feel a lot of empathy and kinship when reading your posts on sways

over the last two weeks

we have had to put up with 6 pages of rubbish and bitchiness over a shaping machine in general discussion

which is all about money for the makers and owners

then more rubbish about firewire which is multi million dollar company with millionaire investors

not to mention self promotion by conventional pro builders

and surftech pimping bs

and you want a begrudge a dude a few dollars for a block of wax

from a guy that is paying rent and supporting a family on a limited income

how much do you make a year out of wax Roy? $1 maybe $1500

its not all about Roy mate

its all about America,SUVs, punchups, popouts, legendshapers(ive never heard of),quivers of 20,westcoast ,northshore etc etc.

I have found Roy to be very generous with help and resources

do not begrudge Roy and his cottage business

it is unfair and unsportsmanlike.

especially measured alongside most of the shameless self promotion abounding throughout this forum.

i believe his point is valid

Simply because a guy in NZ has a beef with a guy in the UK and a guy in the USA thinks the guy in NZ is being self centered…

i apologize if it came out that way

thers a lot of great things i love about America as well

and have made a lot friends here from America

what im trying to say is roy has a style

hes a bit of a ferral

theres plenty of unusual characters getting around

not harming anyone

just haveing there fun

it part of our style and accepting people the way they are

but people are constantly picking at him

(i guess through misunderstandings)

what i meant was that Americans have a style of there own as well

and some aspects of the culture are very foreign to aussies and kiwis

America is a big country with many different people and cultures

there are a lot of things that maybe we would find to criticize about American general nature or style

but i have realized its pointless and unfair so i try not to do it

but i cant understand why Roy gets so much crap from guys over there

Sirwanksa, I dont think Roy believes in patents AND / OR trademarks and he doesnt like being ignored when he was the first.

Did you post the guy from the site and tell him hes not the first to think of it too ? Just in a friendly sort of way, no harm intended.

No, I don’t really believe in patents and we did the opposite of patenting ther recipe: we published it and made it public property.

We’re cool Silly. I enjoy Roy, hopefully he knows it. I also understand why he frustrates others sometimes, but I don’t know why they let it get to them or lash out. America takes a lot of heat. It isn’t perfect and neither is any other country. The tough part for the USA is being the big dog and as such the degree of critical judgement of us is hyper magnified. Rarely is it fair or balanced. Hundreds of women a day around the world, probably have a nipple slip. But if it is a celebrity (big dog) it is overinflated hyper news. They probably do all kinds of other wonderful, kind, sensitive, charitable, noble, generous, brilliant, heroic, etc, etc, things that you never will hear about. But one nipple slip and before long everyone will think they are a whore due to all the coverage and discussion. I don’t mean to be making excuses or justifications, and don’t even want to get close to that bothersome kind of thread. But it isn’t hard to understand that when the spotlights are harshly focused on a country, none of them can hold up to the scrutiny. And when you are the big dog, the lights are never turned off. I am not saying they should be, but considering the media’s preference for “drama” over truth and substance, and the fact that things going wrong is much more dramatic then things going right. There is little chance that, what common men are exposed to in the common media, is any kind of fair or reasonable reflection of the facts or reality.
