wax in styrene

My wax in styrene mix, that we use for making hotcoat/sanding resin has gelled in it’s container, what can I do? It went waxy once before and I just added more styrene, which fixed it but will this work again? How do you make this stuff because I have not got ready access to a new supply. Anyone?? The local fibreglass (industrial) factory man says that lam. resin is sandable if you leave it for a few days until the stickiness goes.

To make it 1 box Parafin wax 4 bars melt in a can in a pot of boiling water. 1 bar to a qt of styrene works as good as anything you can buy… I made it many times in my life… Always keep a lid on it or that will happen again… Hope that helps…Rob

Very messy and unhealthy, but it can at least get the fill coat to the point where you can sand it without gumming up the paper.

My wax in styrene mix, that we use for making hotcoat/sanding resin has > gelled in it’s container, what can I do? My wax gells up when the temperture is low. Try warming it up first. The lid should be air tight on the container. The Surface Agent is available through places like www.fiberglasssuppply.com if you are in North America.
