Hi Again guys I am working on a board its a duff up and the patching and sanding is driving me insane. I guess I should have sanded the bubles and all the inperfections out of the laminated layers and the done the hot coat but I tend not to sand the laminant layers as the glass is sticky and bits of sand stick in the glass and the sand paper gets klogged. Can I put a bit of wax solution ito my laminating resin to make it a bit sander freindly. Cheers
NO WAX in lams! I had a similar problem on my first board. I’ve been using a 4 1/2" grinder with a 5" 50 grit to clean up laps. It has a tendancy to gouge a little bit. Next board I am going to use the 7" on my variable speed to have a little more control. red 50 grit works great…be careful. Nothing beats a little lap attention before the kick. Use a hard squeegee and really flatten them out and remove the extra resin. Miles ahead. I had lumpy hot coat caused by cold wax solution. Warmed up wax solution (72 degrees), strained through paint strainer and it worked perfectly. Learn from every single mistake and life with resin can be enjoyable? Tolerable!. MLC
