Well I never! Is that another example of lateral thinking, bring it on guys. Very encouraging for me personaly. [smile] Oh and superb non commercialisation on new inovation guys 10 out of 10.
Yeah I’ve seen the adverts , but in the water we will see proff of the pudding… Not the first fucken weird thing that cost somebody shitloads and fucken never went anywhere… perhaps I’m in a cynical mood. http://www.speedneedle.com.au
Hay Halcyon, What do you think about this fin system?
The most unusual thing about this promotional effort is there are no photos of someone actually riding a board that has this thing. Nor does the copy mention anything about whether it works. Or that it’s been tested in waves from 1 to 20 feet. Or testimonials. Or if I can use the same one for my 11 foot Munoz and my 6-2 ripsnorter. I’ll take two!
What about the mats? Dont they need fins like these, too? I
m impatient! Why haven’t we turned this discussion into riding mats yet? Come on guys. Let`s all ride mats!
Bagman, TECHNO-LINIER – Nothing here of great interest – Too many surfaces creating too much turbulance. It needs artificial propulsion to function. Maybe a turbine driven version will do well in boat drag racing or it could be use as a tracking device of some kind as long as it didn’t have to turn sharply or enter any turbulence. I sure someone is in love with the design. I prefer something closer to what natural evolution directs me. Off to the fin shop, Rich
looks likw a royal pain in the ass to install. This T.E. guy, Is he joking or is he serious. I really would like to know. I feel that it would need something other than natural motion to make it go.
Don’t know if it works, but that thing is cool! If it doesn’t work it probably needs (just) a bit of massaging. Winglets or end plates “theroretically” increase the aspect ratio of wings to double their span. This could be a really good thing as long as there are no plastic bags or kelp around.
The bottom of that board looks like a glasser’s worst nightmare.
Fat Penguin? Paul Cole == T.Emmerton??? no way!@
I can tell the difference in paddle dragg with a 2+1 vs a single…I cant imagine this one. Respect for the “out of the fin box thinking”.
Stan, did you ever experiment with end plates/winglets on fins? This system looks like overkill to me (the endplates are probably as large as the fins) but the concept is not wrong… We had a discussion here a while back on that topic but I don’t recall anyone had actually made such a thing, other than the Horan star fin, which is not quite the same thing. Thanks, and by the way, nice to see you posting on Swaylocks! Keith
