Well as some of you know me on here I havn’t had a shaping bay for a year and a half. SOOO, I just signed my first comercial lease. I am going to try it as a side business. I got a 40 ft container out here on vancouver island. well I am scared investing money and happy to finally try and sell some boards. I move in oct 1st so I will post pics of the retro fit to the container. everything is harder and more expensive out here but I have alot of time on my hands in the winter and the wife said lets give it a try.
Where on Van Isle are you? I moved back to the east coast a year ago from Tofino ( family shiet! haah) Anyway.. I REALLY miss it there. BUT we are getting a pretty good surf following here in the east. Can't wait to see the retro fit on the container.. got me thinking now...hmmm...
Any other Canucks on here.. what are you using for epoxy? I can't seem to find RR anywhere here.. and its a bitch to have it shipped from the US...something about dangerous chemicals?!?!?!
Keep your board prices in a menu format. meaning: Shaping 6 ft-7ft $75.00, 7ft -8ft $100.00, 8ft-9ft $200.00. Airbrushing $30.00, gloss polish $40.00, gloss sand $20.00, pinlines $30.00, resin work $75.00 extra....you get the picture.
Have it all spelled out so the customer knows what he's getting for what price. If the guys want's a 6 ft clear board that's the starting point.....$450.00 from there it goes up. Bro deals would be a free gloss polish, or maybe pinlines. If you make them pretty, you need to get your $$
Right on man, I really like the container shape bays. Containers seem to be strewn about the lands where I’m from. I’m in WA State, I surf across fromt the Tofino guys, Straits baby.
Good luck man, take lots of pics of the retro fit!
Hey thanks for the great comments guys! Don’t have internet for a month so trying to get to the cafe every few days. I am in Tofino. container will be her fri so I will work a 10 hour day fri then start on the container. here we go!
