Whale of a Fish (next project)

Greetings, I have read some good post regarding Fish templates and design. For my next project I wanted to do a large Fish (Whale of a Fish) around 8-0 or so.

Going over the Clark Foam catalog, Mitch suggested that a 89B for starters. I added a +1 inch for the nose rocker (based on the Fish blanks), two additional colored 1/2 inch foam strips on each side of the center RW 1/4 inch stringer (to give the board some extra width to work with) and finally two RW 3/16 stringers that start on the outside of the T-Band which will flair to a spread targeting 13 inches apart 7 inches from the tail (the intent is to bring the flared stringer to the tip of each Fish Tail). All glue will be dark blue.

With all that above said, I will be looking for template to start with. Any recommendations? It was also suggested to go with a quad fin setup vice dual.

Hope some of you got to enjoy the SOCAL swell last couple of days. Churches and Trestles were going off and a good time was had by all. Keith, I did not get the 9-0 gun from the glasser. Maybe next south swell. There are storms a-brewing…

John, I’m going to build one too. I’m a “fish” maniac and have wanted to build one for myself, as I’m so jealous at all the “others” having fun on my boards! I’ll keep in touch.

There are a couple boards over at www.kanegarden.com that are just what you are describing.

I am also planning on building a larger fish here in the near future. I am looking for a 5’11 fish template if anyone has one they would be willing to share.
