What are we making?

How many of our commonly accepted surfboard specs are purely functional, which just accomodate the human body and what`s mostly eye candy?

A complex question no doubt. I’m certain the individual rider, the conditions he/she surfs regularly and the prevailing “pier pressure” all influence our design choices. You won’t find a surfboard in my quiver with a 12" nose. My son on the other hand wouldn’t call it a surfboard without one. Can we all agree that fins are a purely functional aspect of any surfboard? I have several surfboards that I keep around like an old reversible belt (remember the black to brown number?), abbra-caddabra, with a fin change I’ve got a new surfboard. Purely functional. tom>>> How many of our commonly accepted surfboard specs are purely functional, > which just accomodate the human body and what`s mostly eye candy?
