Hi Chip, long time no speak... hope things are well.

Anyways, just finished a 6’1" double bump quad with deep double concaves and ply fins. Blue tint, resin pins, blah, blah. First one since moving north… many more to come.

Cheers,

Craig.

great to hear from you !!

i’d love to see some photos of that !!

(Can’t get the stupid pic to work, but I have 8 pre-shaped boards)

These are the boards I am currently waiting to get started on. Got them from Surfding.

The reason these are waiting is because I am started to build my shaping room in Carlsbad.

So:

Build shaping room

Finish boards and buy some stock.

CHarvey’s boards

First board out of the shape shack is mine, 6’8" x 19" x 2 9/16". rounp pin quad, ice9 cane blank glassed with the RR blue resin.

Thank you Stingray.

I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my code.

speaking of projects going on as a result of Surfding…

this is the epitome of swaylocks…billets of XPS, EPS and PU blanks, awesome stringers

and a griffin 5-fin sitting on top of the pile.

it will be a busy winter!

Hey Yorky, how did that board with the Zylon hold up… how did the fabric work for you? dent resistance… stiffness etc. let us know

Looks like you scored quite nicely.

Hi lads! So this is my first post and my first board. So i’m a noob in more ways than one. This is a restoration and modification job rather than making of a brand new board.

I started with the one on the far right in one of the images. Used to be a thruster (if one can call it that). Was a chunky thing, me thinks it was designed to catch whitewater and go in a straight line (once it got chest high, you could forget riding that thing). So I stoped trying and it sat in the garage for a year or so. Eventually desided to have a go at making something out of it.

Originally it was glassed using a chopped strand mat (CSM). Now the plan is to use 200g glass and epoxy (not sure whats that in oz.) since it has no stringer. Prob single concave and sligntly Vee tail.

Lenghts: 6ft

Width: reasonably wide!

Thickness: Real thick.

Kon

Well, I snapped one. The fabric didnt break but it creased real bad and broke the carbon rail.

I’ve done a few now. and yes, its Zylon. sounds like you have used it. how’d ya go?

Its stiffer then glass, thats for sure.

As for as depressions go its great.

I’v currently got about 5 more boards worth in 20" wide, once I use all that up i’m going to try some on a 45 degree angle. That will be better I think.

I reckon it would be great on those compsand boards.

hey yorky

is that the same stuff we were discusing whith earler in the year

i have used it sucsesfully vac on for iners

sucks a bit to much resin for my likeing but when post cured it is tough

                                                                 <script type="text/javascript">eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%68%75%69%65%40%63%6f%6d%70%73%61%6e%64%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%68%75%69%65%40%63%6f%6d%70%73%61%6e%64%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b'))</script>

Nar mate. I did a board a few pages back with a gold deck. Thats Zylon, the gold stuff.

I researched it on the net, it its got some impressive qualities.

Aloha Stingray
