What design features does an egg consist of?

Here is one of dem dum questions: I have never known what design features characterize an ‘EGG’ shape. Looking for some enlightenment from the Swayholics… Thanks, Magoo

Looking for some enlightenment from the > Swayholics… Thanks, Magoo Herb is right-soft and round. The boards some of us ride feature displacement hulls, neutral rails, flat rocker(1" or less in tail and about 4" in the nose),and s-decks.They are typically around 22"wide, with wide point around 8" or so ahead of center.Length around 7-7’6" thickness 3’ or under, nose 17.25-18.25" and tail 143/8"-15.75".These boards are great, especially for long, lined up waves.

I have been wondering about this as well. I looked it up on surfreseach.com and this is what they had. S-Deck – a rounded, convex or domed deck profile, with a ‘S’ deck line. See Camel deck.

This what they had for camel deck. Camel 1. Deck – a rounded, convex or domed deck profile, with a ‘S’ deck line. See S-deck. 2. A model name for a design, featuring the S-deck above, by Morey-Pope (USA) circa 1969. I get the domed deck part, but I don’t understand what a S deck line is?

Ahh!the M/P Camel. That was quite and ad campaign for during that period with the volumetric tank measurments and all of the length vs. volume matrixes. The S deck outline is noted if you view the board in the normal side profile point of view. A subtle S-shape made up of the foil in the tail, the humped deck and the step-deck and nose kick. I know what a step deck is, and I can kind of visualize part of a S shape with flipped nose rocker combined with the step deck, but I get lost when it comes to the tail.

Generally speaking, when viewed from the side, a surfboard with an “S” deck will usually begin with a high rail in the nose, which smoothly drops to a low rail at the tail. The underside of the nose with this type of rail featured a degree of belly, and the running surface of the lower-edged tail was either flat or slightly veed. The deck in the front will be flatter, while the top surface over the rear section is slightly rounded. Designed properly, completely functional and very elegant in appearance.

check out liddlesurfboards.com – they are s decks

Thanks Mike! That should answer,or perhaps start, all the questions in regards to hulls,s-decks,etc.
