Is the different characteristics of how one might differ from the other in ones quiver?
Is it its uniqueness that no other board is JUST like it?
Is it actually shaping & glassing your unique creation and getting the chance to actually ride what you your hands developed?
the fact that my hands can make something that my feet can ride
and having a board for ankle high to over head
plus theres the stoke factor of riding your own boards
and you learn more about each design
I like that they all have the ability to approach waves in different waves, much like people approach life. Each board has a separate personality and hopefully matches up with their human that dovetails nicely for them.
I don’t like making carbon copies for carbon units that ride them. Magic is a subjective thing, and when someone tells me I’ve made them a magic board it makes me feel good. I also like the idea of making ‘successful’ boards for surfers of all statures. For me, creating a grea board for a beginner is just as satisfying as making a great board for a more talented surfer.
I like having the ability to create whatever my mind’s eye can picture, and the actual fluidity of that image coming to life thru my hands, the planer and a few simple tools.
