What does a pulled in rail or pernounced hip do? It seem right in front of the front fins that the hip usually starts. I read that the hip usually start from 17 to 20 inches from the tail is that true? I’m very interested?
im generally doing them between 12 and 18" from the tail depending on length of board…the feeling you get is short sharp tight turns ,you get a squarer bottom turn allowing you to go vertical earlier so you can attack the lip straight on …
definatly for a better surfer …average guys look a bit flappy and clumsy if there running to much hip…
the down side to hip is you cant load long drawn out turns with power ,you can only do tight turns with power ,they definatly suit suckier waves …you gota watch your rocker combinations with hip…as the curves get more extreme ,more things can go wrong, if the combination isnt right…
