It really is the best foam!
If you want grade, consistant, hard, bright white , closed cell foam and great flex with custom rockers call Pacific Surf Industries. We have over 2000 blanks in stock. We also have a Custom Glue shop much lager and a faster turn around time then Walker or Greenvalley mill Our turn around time is 3 day. we can even fix crappy glue up for other foam than ours. Timmy Patterson, Midget Smith, Bill Johnson, Michael Baron, Cordell, ProCam cutting services and a list of others are claiming Just Foam is the best foam out there right now. It probably a good idea to ask one of them or someone who has been trying the various foams out there.
anyone use Safari from South Africa?
Just used one, very easy to plane. I was a bit light-handed at first and it bit a few times, but with a bit of pressure, it was fine.
Sanded well too, no dramas.
Very reasonable over here in the UK.
Nick,
The Safari blanks I’ve gotten have been “crap” - and that’s being nice. More air bubbles than a Clark reject, let alone a second. Inconsistent foam density - lots of spongy areas along the rails. Stringers separating from the foam at the nose and tail.
All in all, extremely frustrating.
One was so bad, I called the dealer and said I was bringing it back. He said, “No problem…” that Safari was replacing alot of blanks due to the massive problems. Skinned the other 3 Safaris I had before going back and had to replace 3 of 4.
Unfortunately, the replacements seem to be from the same batch - pretty crappy. I’ll make the best of it but won’t get any more…
It’s too bad cause the one good blank from them was really quite nice - but they’re just too inconsistent to justify the higher price when there are what seem to be better options in PU out there.
Exciting times we’re living in as it all shakes out…
Pete
yep, i’d heard pretty bad stuff about them too, but I’ve had no problems. I suppose after clark went, everyone tried to rush as many blanks out there as possible so quality not as good as it should be.
The Safari blanks in the UK are by far the cheapest I’ve found, my 7’3" was almost half the old clark equivelent.
The 10’4" I’m ordering is less than half the old clark!!!
A few of my friends seem to be getting Xtra Foam. All good reports so far.
Man I haven’t looked at this post in a while well I must say I shaped a bunch of boards and talked to a bunch of people(since this post) and shapers and found that Ryno foam is great, although i’ve had a few humps I had to get out.The color is sick, I just moved to North County from the east coast and saw some boards built with just foam and the cell structure looks good, real good so I think thats what I’m gone to use for awhile.
I personal like teccell foam. I’ve used about 200 blanks now, most are perfect white and light as hell. The one thing is i have rarely found occasional small air bubbles.
