the hands on process of board building is such an organic process! It doesn’t matter what medium you choose to build in, foam, wood, etc… the board just grows and evolves at the tip of your fingers.
Well as I was building my HWS I had a few friends who were poking fun at me (not like I care)… but they were joking me about why a landlocked person would build a surfboard… I think the fact that I am at least 7 hours away from the nearest saltwater break is actually one of the reasons I build! I am not that great of a surfer (due in part to the lack of paddle time), but building boards keeps me focused and in touch with one of the past times that really recharges my batteries! Plus catching a wave on a board you built is an unreal feeling! Kind of like catching a fish with a fly that you tied!
why do you build?
