I have access to both ink jet and eco solvent wide format printers in our company’s print shop. What media should I purchase to print board graphics for under the glass job? I’ll be doing a board for a grom and want to do some full sized graphics and may offer it as a service to other local board builders if I like the results.
so I google searched “how to laminate graphics onto a surfboard” for you and every hit was wat you wanted - Rice paper is the standard for printing surfboard graphics, but good luck feeding that through a wide-format printer as you typically need to adhere it to some kind of stock paper first, otherwise it jams the printer.
What you’re looking for is cloth inlays, which I could imagine are done on a number of medias as long as they are able to take resin (cotton, hemp, etc) - So while I can’t tell you how to do that, I can tell you who does it

These guys print full-size fabric inlays for surfboards, using a wide-format printer and what I’m sure is some kind of process that they’d rather have you pay them for than have them tell you how to do it and wind up with another competitor on the market. Your best bet is to just do some research on how to print direct-to-garment style and use that to print your cloth
Looks like that site sells rolls of the printable fabric - you’re in luck!
I have tracked down some silk that is mounted on a backing paper made to run on the plotters. This seems to be the way to go. Found one place that will sell a 6’ long sample piece of the material for $28. Will probably give this a try.
