What rolls down stairs...

...alone or in pairs,
and over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack,
And fits on your back?

It's Log,

Log,

Log!

Unfortunately, something thought it was great for a snack.

It had to be cleaned up.

I might be able to get something useable out of what is left, now that the termites are mostly gone?

But then I wouldn't get to play with these cool tools.

Half the log made these extremely wet boards.

They should be dry enough to use in about a year.

Looks like Western red. Is it? Never knew termites to go for that stuff.

Yes, this is western red cedar that came from a stump that was doubling as a post for my parents woodshed.  The tree was cut down ten or so years ago (dad doesn't like the mess cedars make) and the 8' tall stump was left in the ground for the post.  Apparently, the termites didn't get the memo and ate the center of the stump out up to about a foot from the top so I didn't know the whole center was rotten or I probably wouldn't have taken it for the wood.  I will try to get pics of the termites pouring out of the other parts as I mill them up.  I think I even saw a dead queen that was kinda flattened and drying up.
