What to do for Christmas....

Find that kid at your local who needs something, and give it to him!!

And no, I’m not talking about an attitude adjustment… Not this season, anyway.

Report back here on your gifting - I’m gonna give my slightly used spring suit to a neighborhood rat who has no wetsuit.

I’m sure somebody on here is going all the way and making a garage special for an unsuspecting youngster.

Or you can think of gifts other swaylockers could/should give.

For instance, resinhead could be giving seal-hunting lessons.

The new grom board I won at the Sways campout will be under the tree of a local kid on Christmas Day. Mike

nice going Mike and Mike…

i’ll have to see what i can do too…

This is one favorite kids toys. Even though this is an entry level gun, it works well for close range targets in Marine Mammal applications…when I feel naughty I use the explosive tips! Ho, Ho, HOOOOO.

I want craftee back for Christmas.

Yes, that is a 1985 vintage, faded flourescent colors and all. Nice find!

Surfboards get around, I haven’t been to San Francisco since I was 12, but one of my boards is there!

I knew you’d come up with something, didn’t know it’d be a semi-gun.

Come free with the lessons?

I’ve been collecting boards destined for the dumpster, rehabbing them, and finding worthy groms to recieve them. My outdoor workspace is cold (it is NJ in winter, after all) and resin it taking forever to set, but hoping to get a few done by Christmas.

First up are two kids of a coworker; their mom died of cancer Christmas eve last year. The family is managing but boards are not on the budget.

Next up is finding an organization to help identify kids in need and distribute the other boards I restore (I do have one in mind but am open to suggestions).

If anyone local has some ridable boards to donate to this cause, feel free to contact me.

Gollieeeeeeeee Maahke, wher’n the hell was that’n made

Last year I gave my twin keel fish to a very deserving local grom. This year I gave a used 4/3 to another kid that needed it. It all comes back around. THe day before yesterday I scored a beautiful 6’4" twin keel fish, resin swirl and all at well below market value.

Yesterday, our 7 year old son donated two large bags of toys and clothes to the local ‘retarded children’s thrift shop’. (Before anyone gets politically correct on me, that is the actual name of the store.)

Tis the season.

Where else but the Magnolia Street Porch Monkey Madness School of Surfboard Design and Construction?

Them wuz fun days…

Hackeysaky, check with the local churches, Im sure that they can help you with making local connections. Im in the middle of a project that requires all of my spare time, but I’d be willing to help when I can, but it won’t be for a while. PM me if you like.

Surfifty and hackeysackeys posts alone made it worth starting this thread. Thanks, guys.

Surfifty, sounds great, let me know what you are thinking.

I admit I’m struggling with my current project- I live in a duplex-style condo with no garage and the tiniest of sheds (only good for board storage, not board-work), so my workspace is either my backyard or my in-law’s garage (also “outside” and not temp controlled), so progress has been slow. I doubt I’ll get the 2 aforementioned boards done by Christmas, but that is ok since the kids won’t be in the water for a few months (as you know, water temps are currently in the 40’s).

Struggling is good word for working with resin in your temps lately. Any snow out to the coast yet? Bust out the cobalt and

add an extra 50cc catalyst and then keep the fire extinguisher handy, right? But it’s such a noble cause it makes it all worthwhile…

That’s a big part of what the season is about.

Hacksaky,

Keep collecting boards and I’ll see what I can find. Maybe in the spring we can do some repairs and have them ready for the warmer weather or get a jump on next Christmas. Do you still live in Lavallette? Im in OB 1.
