For instance, resinhead could be giving seal-hunting lessons.
This is one favorite kids toys. Even though this is an entry level gun, it works well for close range targets in Marine Mammal applications…when I feel naughty I use the explosive tips! Ho, Ho, HOOOOO.
I’ve been collecting boards destined for the dumpster, rehabbing them, and finding worthy groms to recieve them. My outdoor workspace is cold (it is NJ in winter, after all) and resin it taking forever to set, but hoping to get a few done by Christmas.
First up are two kids of a coworker; their mom died of cancer Christmas eve last year. The family is managing but boards are not on the budget.
Next up is finding an organization to help identify kids in need and distribute the other boards I restore (I do have one in mind but am open to suggestions).
If anyone local has some ridable boards to donate to this cause, feel free to contact me.
Last year I gave my twin keel fish to a very deserving local grom. This year I gave a used 4/3 to another kid that needed it. It all comes back around. THe day before yesterday I scored a beautiful 6’4" twin keel fish, resin swirl and all at well below market value.
Yesterday, our 7 year old son donated two large bags of toys and clothes to the local ‘retarded children’s thrift shop’. (Before anyone gets politically correct on me, that is the actual name of the store.)
Hackeysaky, check with the local churches, Im sure that they can help you with making local connections. Im in the middle of a project that requires all of my spare time, but I’d be willing to help when I can, but it won’t be for a while. PM me if you like.
Surfifty, sounds great, let me know what you are thinking.
I admit I’m struggling with my current project- I live in a duplex-style condo with no garage and the tiniest of sheds (only good for board storage, not board-work), so my workspace is either my backyard or my in-law’s garage (also “outside” and not temp controlled), so progress has been slow. I doubt I’ll get the 2 aforementioned boards done by Christmas, but that is ok since the kids won’t be in the water for a few months (as you know, water temps are currently in the 40’s).
Keep collecting boards and I’ll see what I can find. Maybe in the spring we can do some repairs and have them ready for the warmer weather or get a jump on next Christmas. Do you still live in Lavallette? Im in OB 1.
