what would you do?

“Blank Problem”??? I thought the Blank was FOAM!

Since all three are using essentially the same chemical base maybe you could explain to us illiterates how there would be any “core” difference. If I remember correctly MDI was being used by Walker, Echo-Tech, Ice-9 and Excel. All of which are now defunct. Cracked and leak water??? Ridiculous comment. PS----Most of the old Clarks I have seen over the years are left with a High stringer not shrunken. primarily because the foam around the stringer either shrunk or collapsed. Just the opposite of your statement.

yeah that’s what he’s saying: its likely a blank problem because the foam should be stable enough to not shrink.

Currently of the three Poly Blank manufacturers headquartered in the U.S. (U. S. Blanks, Arctic and Millennium); all are producing a quality product and the competition is on. Each has it’s own quirks and any of the three can occasionally screw up, But being prone to shrinkage is a new one on me for any of the three. I would call BULL SHIT on anyone who says that shrinkage is a consistent problem with any of the three. I’ll go a step farther and say that Millennium is at the top of their game and currently leading the pack. Lowel

???..

Just ideas. Not advice

I do think it was a bad blank in this case. Not bashing an entire brand. A bad blank period…as in one. Shit happens. Bad batch…whatever. I’d contact the blank supplier and let them have a look and an opportunity to make it right.

To add to Keith’s remarks of epoxy over poly-U and color. I have one epoxy over poly-u shrink on a trip to southern California. Clear lam. It was in a terry cloth bag in the back of my open bed truck. Hot day driving over the Grape Vine. Bill T. suggested it was due to the heat, rapid changes in elevation and pinholes in my lam i.e. shitty lam. Sounds reasonable. Not suggesting the original board in this case was a shitty lam. Keith’s lams are pro quality, too. Mine, no. I still surf the board as a back up and I think it continues to shrink in my nice cool garage. Mike

…never heard about melted resin; may be that is a thing with Epoxy?
No matter the brand; I used almost all from different countries except Millennium and if you let for example, a board inside a closed car under Summer hot Sun the foam will shrink.
So is not the foam is the customer the culprit.
-the boards now are arriving to a bigger public so many things occur.

–I have been having problems with the stringers; that for some reason, after a fine lamination and hot coat, its decide to gassing or like that and let me dry areas under the cloth…no dry laminations, I did many test with different brands, like let the blanks in storage without humidity, with humidity, no storage so you shape the board with the blank new and dry; hot weather, cold weather bass stringers, cedar stringers, plywood ones, putting monomere, and lots more.
Is a pain in the arse because you know and see that the work is well done but in a few days the f–r do that.

-Hello Jim, what s your experience with those Blanks that you mention regarding storage position? I mean, I tested let them standing up, on the rails, leveled, etc but sometimes the stringers are crooked sometimes do not and possibly sometimes the stringers are crooked from the factory but I import the foam and many packages are unopened for a few months, so I do not know.

Thanks
