What would you do???

Lets say, you sold something and sent something, like a layout square to someone who posts here regularly, and they keep saying the check is in the mail, and the $$$ never comes???

Lets say, you sold something and sent something, like a layout square to > someone who posts here regularly, and they keep saying the check is in the > mail, and the $$$ never comes??? You might want to warn us about this party. I don’t know how long you have waited, and if you want to wait any longer. But you might be doing anyone who posts things in the classifieds about this person. He may try to burn them too, if thats what his intentions are. FD

if you think there was/is an intent to burn or deceive you, then all’s fair in love and war, you know…if this person has good intentions, but can’t pay due to financial considerations, they should 'fess up and return the item ASAP!>>> Lets say, you sold something and sent something, like a layout square to > someone who posts here regularly, and they keep saying the check is in the > mail, and the $$$ never comes???

Wow, tuff call. I hope this person does the right thing.

Paul, so sorry to hear about your predicament. I’d hate to think that there are people intentionally using Swaylock’s to rip off others. If the check really got lost in the mail, you can ask the person to void the original check and resend payment. If that doesn’t work, you may want to cancel the entire transaction and request the unpaid merchandise be returned to you. I’m not sure what kind of legal action you can take. Would this be considered mail fraud? If you have the person’s mailing information, you may want to call the post office or law enforcement to find out if they can help you. The most important thing is to treat all transactions like buisness. Even if you think you’re dealing with a so-called “bro”. Don’t send anything until you have received payment and all checks clear with the bank. If this person is guilty, I don’t think it’s fair that they get away with it. I’d like to hear some other suggestions from people who are more knowledgable in these matters.

i hope this doesn’t spoil things for us at swaylocks. i am looking to purchase a set of calipers very soon. also a layout square and possibly a fin or two. any prices set for these? thank in advance paul… … …

Paul - I’m sorry this isn’t much help in getting your money… As you know, I just sold my Greenough Design edge board on E-Bay. I ended up shipping it and since the guy seemed anxious to get it, I paid out of pocket rather than wait for the check. He said it was “in the mail” and I believed him. Board and check arrived as promised. Shame on the guy who owes you… KARMA RULES!

You have a good reputation in this forum, its not compliment… so next time, take the money before delivery.>>> Lets say, you sold something and sent something, like a layout square to > someone who posts here regularly, and they keep saying the check is in the > mail, and the $$$ never comes??? http://65.188.212.181/swaylocks/boards/db.cgi?db=default&uid=default&Validated=Yes&Category=3%27%20-%204%27%2011%22&view_records=1&nh=5&mh=1

That’s too long. If it were me I would do one of two thing’s. If they were pretty close by, I’d call my brother in law, the bookie and have him send the guy’s he uses to collect. Believe me these aren’t the same type of guy’s a financial institution would use. Or, blurt the a$$holes name over the site. Whoever it is they are no better than a common theif. Good Luck !!!

As I get older, the less tolerant of crap I am. Thats just me though, you are obviously a better person than I.

Last year Magoo came down to Encinitas to meet me and watch me shape, he was building a board for his church group and wanted to know if there was a way to get use of an FCS installatoin kit, I lent him mine until his project was finished, it showed up UPS. Thanks Magoo. RI surfer is on the money, do it Federal Hill style, this is Rocco, David and Paulie, they’re here for the money.

…for 23 bucks I might let that go,but I would post his name, and > offense.Herb If this guy lived closer to you, an unexpected visit would be quite appropriate… even for $23.00. The individual in question should return the product in the same condition he originally received it (with a written apology), or this unfortunate transaction has nothing less than stealing. I must confess that in financially darker times, I was once an on-site collection agent… and my observation was that personal appearances are most always a very effective deterrant to non-payment of debts, especially the smaller ones. Beyond that, I completely agree with Herb. Dale

Same house where my father was born. He grew up with all the wise guy’s and me with their son’s. You living here for awhile know the story. Whoever would pull that shxt here, would be a sorry bastard. You still coming this way this fall ?

I think it’s more of a principal thing than strictly money. I’d post his name on this board and embarass the crap out of him. aloha, tom
